The tournament to find the Stroud Bowl House Champion took place on Monday 23rd November.
20 bowlers from the Stroud Bowl leagues took part in the qualifying rounds with the top four bowlers going through to a round robin bowl off.
This tournament was very kindly sponsored by local firm Springfield Engineering.

4th - Julie Blythe
James Shaw also bowled the highest game of the tournament with a 244.

Stroud Bowl was please to host the 14th Round of the Team England Ranking Event, the Gloucestershire Open on behalf of the B.T.B.A.
The prize for mens high game went jointly to Paul Moore and Mike Quarry with a 279. Ladies High Game went to Kylie Wills with a 248.

RESULTS - 1ST NOVEMBER 2009 HANDICAP DOUBLES TOURNAMENT

Sixteen teams entered the qualifying rounds of the Stroud Bowl Handicap Doubles on the lst of November 2009. The top four teams qualified for the step ladder final were Ryan Moran and Chris Smith from Astra Bowl Brize Norton, Kim and Diane Johnson who bowl in the Stroud Bowl Wednesday League, Hadley Morgan from Brize Norton and Greg Jerome from Basildon Bowl & Quasar, Essex and Ralph Huges from Essex and Barry Wright from Stroud. Every single match was close with Ralph and Barry just winning each match to take first place and the prize money. They beat Hadley and Greg by 49 pins and then went on to beat Kim and Diane by 9 pins and went on to meet the number one seeds. This was another closely fought match where Ralph and Barry beat Ryan and Chris by 8 pins.

RESULTS -31ST MAY 2009 HANDICAP DOUBLES TOURNAMENT

The results of the Handicap Doubles Tournament held at Stroud Bowl on the 31st May was another win for local Stroud bowlers Colin and Pete Wright closely followed by local bowlers Richard Cox and Barry Wright (no relation) Colin and Pete beat Barry and Richard in the final by 45pins.
Unfortunately entries were down possibly due to the credit squeeze so only three teams made it through to the stepladder final. Cash prizes were awarded to the top four places and the final result was:-

2ND - RIBA - Richard Cox and Barry Wright (Stroud)
3RD - COTSWOLD LPSA - Nick Collin and Dave Whybrow (Bristol)

31 Teams from all over the country took part in the handicap doubles tournament on Sunday 15th March 2009 held at Stroud Bowling Centre. Lane conditions were good and plenty of 200 plus games were bowled and the atmosphere was competitive but friendly.
Four teams went through from the qualifying rounds to a step ladder final as follows:-
Qualifying lst 'Pro-Am' - Kenneth Iredale and Diane Johnson 2nd 'Witney Old Boys' Gary Baker and Kim Johnson 3rd 'Chain Reaction' Colin and Pete Wright 4th 'LPSAII' Cherice Nightgale and Dave Johnson.
4th place played 3rd which resulted in a win for Chain Reaction, Colin bowled a 201 and Pete a 215 game. They then played the Witney Old Boys who pulled out all the stops Gary Baker bowling a 249 and Kim Johnson a 203 to beat Chain Reaction for a place in the final. Good games were bowled in the final between Pro-Am and Witney Old Boys, Gary bowling a 229 and Kim 216 against Kenneth who bowled a 236. The score was neck and neck to the final frame of the game when Gary Baker had to get a strike in the 10th frame to win the game by 11 pins.

RESULTS - 28TH SEPTEMBER 2008 COLIN AND PETE WRIGHT - CHAIN REACTION WINNERS

The last open tournament for this year was a handicap doubles tournament held on Sunday 28th September. The local turn out was the best yet which included a large entry from the Monday night doubles league. The winners were Colin and Pete Wright (father and son) who call themselves Chain Reaction and bowl regularly at Stroud Bowl. Despite having entries from as far afield as London and Peterborough the locals shone through coping well with quite testing lane conditions. Team XXX (Andrew Davidson and James Shaw) qualified for the final in first place but were pushed out of the top position by Chain Reaction by 11 pins.

Springfield Elementary a local engineering company represented by Alan Pearce and Barry Day won the Handicap Doubles Tournament held in June this year. Barry also got the prize for the knobbliest knees!
Alan and Barry bowl regularly in the Monday night handicap doubles league.
RESULTS 27TH APRIL 2008 CHAIN REACTION UNSTOPPABLE IN TEN PIN FINAL

The Handicap Doubles Tournament held at the end of April was won by local bowlers Pete Wright and Barry Wright (Chain Reaction). Pete and Barry bowl regularly in the Monday night doubles league. They qualified for the final in third place and battled their way through the step ladder final to take the first place prize money.
Teams qualifying for the final were
4th Place (Hurricanes) Steve Gurney and Bruce Byers from Banbury
3rd Place (Chain Reaction) Pete Wright and Barry Wright from Stroud
2nd Place (Wonkers)Gary Baker and Ralph Hughes from London
1st Place (Ken for President) Diane Johnson and Kenneth Iredale from Oxford
This all changed when Pete and Barry only just beat the Hurricanes by 10 pins and the Wonkers by 32 pins. The final match resulted in Chain Reaction finishing with 435 pins and Ken for President finishing with 383 giving Chain Reaction the win by 54 pins.
RESULTS - 2ND MARCH 2008 TEAM XXX LOCAL BOWLERS WIN THROUGH

On Mothers' Day, Sunday 2nd March, Stroud Bowl held their first open Ten Pin Bowling handicap doubles tournament. Teams entered from London, Banbury, Swindon and RAF Brize Norton. There was also a good local entry from the Stroud Bowl Monday doubles league. The first qualifying squad started at 10.00 and the second at 12.30 with teams bowling five games with the highest four scores going through to a step ladder final. Squad 1 finished with local bowlers in the top four places 1. Chain Reaction - Colin and Pete Wright 2. Springfield Elementary - Alan Pearce and Barry Day 3. Stroud Two - Gary Baker and Diane Johnson and 4. Optimists -Gerald and Doreen Allen.
The second squad generally scored higher and the teams going through to the step ladder final were 1. Team XXX James Shaw and Andrew Davidson (pictured above) 2. Chain Reaction. 3. Stroud Three - Kenneth Iredale and Barry Wright and 4. Springfield Elementary.
The first round of the final resulted in a win for Stroud Three over Springfield Elementary. Stroud Three then beat Chain Reaction in a nail biting 10th frame finish where Ken Iredale had to get a double of strikes to win the game by 8 pins. The final game was very exciting but Ken and Barrys winning streak started to crumble as James Shaw put in a very good game which help to clinch the tournament for Team XXX.
